Yesterday was a gorgeous sunny day in Seattle. One of those days that affirms why we endure the crappy rainy days throughout the year. As the kids were playing in the backyard, Ragen came running to the house screaming. I went outside not sure what I was going to find. I heard him saying something about bunnies. I thought "Oh great, we've got dead bunnies in our yard and I'm going to have to explain this to the kids." Every spring, we've got a bunny that hangs out in our yard every day. He/she sits in the exact same spot year after year eating our grass and looking into our sliding glass door.
I followed Ragen to our sandbox which is actually filled with pea gravel and not sand only to find 2 teeny tiny baby bunnies sitting in there not moving a muscle. Probably scared to death by the little blond toddler squealing in delight about how cute and cuddly they are! Imagine her excitement when the bunny let her pet him. Ummm, Maggie - go wash your hands :) Besides these 2 bunnies, there were at least 3 or 4 more that were piled on top of each other buried under something resembling a homemade nest. Who knows how many are actually under there.
Now comes the hard part of trying to get the kids to leave them alone to let their mommy do what she needs to do. They want to go check on the bunnies every 5 minutes. They really are darn cute! This was a real confirmation that it is definitely springtime in Seattle!
