Seafair

For the first time in about 12 years, we went out on Lake Washington for Seafair. I have so many memories of spending the first weekend in August among all the craziness out there. It's hard to believe that in all those years of mixing boats with drinking, that nothing serious has happened to anyone we know. Thank goodness! We decided to head out so the kids could get an up close view of the Blue Angels. Plus, it's rare to have a gorgeous sunny day for Seafair so we wanted to take advantage while we could.

It was super choppy heading out and Maggie cried for much of the way. We got to the north side of Mercer Island and realized we'd missed our opportunity to head under I-90 to get near the pits for the Hydro races. So we turned around and headed all the way around MI from the south. This time we sat in the back where Maggie actually fell asleep on my lap as we were cruising through all the crazy waves.

We watched a great show by the Blue Angels and are still amazed every year by the talent and bravery of the pilots. When you grow up around Seafair you really can't help but smile at the sight and most importantly, the deafening roar of the Blue Angels.

Taking the idea of rocking to sleep to a whole new level!

Daddy takes the kids for a swim break (AKA pee break)

I only took my little point-and-shoot camera on the boat but still some fun shots of the Blue Angels

I like this one because it shows the sunny day, the chaos of all the boats, and the Blue Angel jet flying right at the tree line
